With ever increasing costs and the number of beach visitations growing each season, the Surf Life Saving Foundation (SLSF) was originally established by Surf Life Saving Queensland as its fundraising body in 1997.

The public liability insurance crisis that hit Surf Life Saving in 2003, however highlighted the financial vulnerability of the organisation on a national scale and so the Surf Life Saving Foundation became the official national fundraising arm of Surf Life Saving in Australia.

Over the last decade, the Foundation has achieved wonderful growth and support which has resulted in more and more funds being delivered back to lifesaving services on the beach where it is needed most.
