Up the Tower

Up the Tower

Wednesday 15th September, 11am – 2pm

Queen Street Mall, Brisbane CBD

Up the Tower is a simple yet vital fundraising event held annually to raise funds for our volunteer surf lifesavers.  Basically, we bring the beach to the Queen Street Mall (yes, sand and all) and invite businessmen & women, sporting personalities and celebrities to literally go on patrol up lifesaving towers to help rescue the lifesavers.

This year Up the Tower will be held on Wednesday, 15 September between 11am – 2pm.

Participation requires no financial outlay from you, just the donation of 30 minutes of your time and your commitment to approach your contacts for donations to get you back down the tower (target is $1,000).

The fundraising component is easy and it can all be done on-line even before you set foot on the sand!   Surf Life Saving will set you up with your very own personalised Up the Tower fundraising webpage.

If you are interested in rescuing our volunteer lifesavers by going Up the Tower, please contact the Surf Life Saving Foundation Events Team on 3846 8000 or email events@slsfoundation.com.au.

2010 Jupiters Summer Surf Girl Announced

The 2010 Jupiters Summer Surf Girl drew to an end in grand style on Saturday 22 May with Paige Cooper of North Burleigh Surf Life Saving Club crowned as the 2010 Jupiters Summer Surf Girl Winner.

16 Entrants representing clubs from the northenmost point - Port Douglas right down south to Rainbow Bay congregated at Jupiters Hotel & Casino.  The entrants raised a collective total of $739,638.96 proving that good time management, a great attitude and a passion for what they do, can make a huge difference raising vital funds and awareness for Surf Life Saving within their local communities.

We'd also like to thank all of the sponsors supporters, particularly Jupiters Hotel & Casino for their ongoing support and for ensuring the success of this program.  Fundraising programs such as this help ensure that our volunteer Surf Lifesavers keep watch over the 30 Million visitors to QLD's beautiful beaches each year.
